    Default RIFT to eclipse WOW?

I don't know how many have you have tried your hand at RIFT, the newish MMORPG from TRION, but long story short, it's pretty amazing. There are still a few annoying things like quest tracking behaving oddly, but the way the game integrated community into gameplay with rifts and invasions is pretty nifty.
My favourite feature is how customizable the characters are with the 3-tree system. If you're not familiar with it, you get to pick 3 "souls" for your character out of the 9(?) in your calling (Callings are: Rogue, Mage, Warrior, Cleric). When you level up you get soul points that you can put into one of your three ability trees. It makes it a lot easier to suit your toon to your particular style of MMO-playing as well as making all the characters in your party vastly different because of their different abilities.
I know WOW has a pretty huge customer base and much more content than RIFT, but I think RIFT is far superior as far as game mechanics go. What do you think? :3

do not know I tried rift for 3 months and have to be honest it did lose me, i think part of it was because your toon was too adaptable you could change him to suit what ever your needs were thus you really did not need many others to play. The rifts kind of bugged me after awhile as well. But it did have some grood aspects to the game. Guess if I had been able to hook up with more poepl mighth ave helped.

It's probably the first worthwhile WoW competitor, but it hasn't retained players well enough to allow it to ever eclipse WoW.

A lot of my friends from The Lord of the Rings: Online left to play Rift and have not returned so I am assuming it's worth a try.

ive played rift for a month and i quit for guild wars, altho rift looks promising ill probably come back to it in a bout a year or so to see how it develops but as a long time player of wow it has no chance in hell.

Rift got old for me an my friends real fast. We signed up for 3 months from the start and didn't make it pass month 2. To easy to level like all the MMOs these days.

WoW was more fun when it first came out. Rift doesn't have a chance in hitting WoW's numbers during it peak.

Wish someone would remake Everquest I or UO and keep the rules the same as they were during their peaks. I love when you loose xp and items when you die. Makes people think a bit.
