Thread: RPG or FPS :)? It's simple

Aryt guys after a long time I have finally tried to make a thread in discussion.

personally I dont like RPGs and FPS I just simply love it.

U can Input some of the games which U consider all time awesome in each Genre.

This topic looks like flame to me.

It is just like comparing apple to carrot.

Both genres have very good game eg
FPS - Quake 3, Cod 4, Half Life(1&2), Counter Strike
RPG - Baldur's Gate(1&2), Planescape Torment, Fallout(1, 2, 3), Mass Effect(1&2), Dragon Age

They can't be compared so easily because these genres are guided by other principles.
FPP is just for killing and no thinking(there are some exceptions :) ).
RPG is for reading, thinking, killing and making choices(I am talking about 'true' RPG, not cRPG like Diablo).

I have a personal preference for FPS but i was and still am a huge fan of RPGs. I just feel like FPS games have a faster pace which is alot of fun when playing with friends and takes away from the general grind required in RPGs. Still, both are great genres and can't be compared fairly.

I play RPGs but I don't play FPS. It's not that I hate FPS but I get dizzy/feel sick when I play FPS games with the quickness.

I feel they're both different type of games but one can enjoy both.

I used to say RPGs, based simply on length. I'm much rather spend $50-70 on a game that will last at least a month as opposed to a week or two. That's not really a valid argument anymore, now that every decent FPS has some sort of multiplayer built in. An FPS with a really good multiplayer system can keep players for...well, there's still a community playing the original Battlefield.

So, my answer is: RPGs and sandbox games (which are slowly becoming the same thing). I hate online multiplayer FPSs...or just what seems to be 90% of the people that play them.
