Thread: allow VIP status to be requested

Thank you shadowbuild, Doc Doom, and silentninja. I strongly respect your opinions on this. I understand more now why VIP is not allowed. It is something that should be earned and not easily given away through a request. I will close this now.

I am suggesting that VIP status be added to the allowed list of requests in the request forum. I am asking this because I have an idea I'd like to try out; I'd like to request for VIP. In my request I'd explain that I would "pay it forward" if the request is fulfilled. Meaning that I would then donate VIP to another member requesting it in the request forums. And hopefully he'd do the same. Of course the likelihood of anyone donating VIP is slim. But it's just an idea I had and I just want to get some input from the community.

I've got to say I disagree with this. VIP is something that should be earned by people for doing good around the community or as a reward for donating to help keep this site running. I've got to say requesting VIP seems like something that shouldn't be allowed in my opinion. If someone personally wants VIP that bad they could always save up and donate (tier 1 is about $10 AUD). Just my two cents.

No good will come out of this if we will encourage this, especially with such an ambiguous explanation like pay it forward. This might establish a new form of trading. Buy me an invite and I will buy you a VIP.

No one is forbidding anyone to request a VIP. If my mind serves me right that has happened and the request was fulfilled.
