Default Allow VIP's to have animated gif avatars

Cos I've got one and it's hella cool but I can't use it here..

    Mod edit: Unauthorized image host

    - Living up to my high-maintenance rep.

Edit: Re-upping the gif. Seen as paradoxically the T-I image dump allows gifs.. ?!

Admin Edit: Do not put animated images on TI. Thank you.

I agree. I want to make another suggestion too. Allow non-vips to use gifs. They can have the large ones and we'll have the smaller ones

We have had animated gifs (avatars) before. And some of them are nice. However some are frantic or very disconcerting and bother a lot of members. And it was an admin decision to not allow them any more.

I know this has been discussed before, but maybe we can reconsider it. If animated avatars were to be restricted to VIP5 and exalted for example, that would mean that not too many are going to be on the board, which in turn means two things:
    - it'll work as a great incentive to get VIP5 and it'll make the exalted title shine even more
    - the situation will be manageable for mods, and they can simply remove avatars that are found to be too offensive

Additionally staff could formulate some rules for animated avatars, so that any extremes are avoided. I appreciate that everyone wants to be cool so that some excesses are bound to occur, but if the privilege would only apply to a very restricted set of user classes and some very clear rules would be formulated, I think there's no reason for things to get out of hand and everyone should be happy. Obviously there's a great interest in animated avatars and that should be considered as well.
Maybe staff could discuss this and take this up for a general staff vote.

I was waiting for someone to bring this up again (because I know it'll probably get denied anyway). I'm a huge fan of avatars and I can tell you the #1 reason why I got VIP was the bigger avatar, I hate how members are denied the ability to have avatars as big as ours. You can tell a lot about a person through their avatars and I hope this suggestion gets reconsidered. I saw the last thread that suggested this by DocDoom and it can't be denied that most members agreed before and I'm sure most members still agree, it's a great feature to have, rather it shouldn't be referred to as a feature, it's something almost every forum has. It's a way for us members for express ourselves, but we've been denied that ability. I think good forum staff should listen to its users rather then completely blow the idea off on the excuse that some members use very flashy avatars. You're staff, you can control that. As people have suggested it can be limited to VIP tier 5 or exalted to further control content. Most of these users are smart enough to know what's accepted and what isn't(Don't give this ability to BieberFever) Anyways I hope you guys reconsider.
