Default Does Evil exist or did we create it?

Ideas come to me at the strangest time, and are prompted by even stranger circumstances. The subject which graces my mind at the moment is the very concept of Evil. I seek not a mere listing of descriptions per se, although contemplations of what we may think is clear can become murky very fast; but instead I would most enjoy a mind-chewing, limit-pushing examination of what is Evil?

Let us examine this most interesting subject, as debated and discussed for time immemorial by students and aficionados of philosophy.Ponder the thoughts I list below and then I leave it to my fellow members to add their own thoughts be it rumination, diatribe or discourse.

    What is Evil?

Can Evil co-exist with Good? Or is the good act we see committed by an otherwise evil person merely a superficial extension of an egocentric desire?

Does Evil exist solely because it is a creation of humanity that has no real place outside of our own self-created moral spheres; or, is there such a thing as pure evil that transcends time, civilization and the development of wisdom within and around a Society.

    Who cares to begin.

its a very interesting thought, which was certainly discussed during many social gatherings (like beer drinking).
for me, "evil" is solely an output of our moral compass. as that, it is also very subjective and narrowed by our mental capacity. a lot of things we perceive as evil have a reason deemed as noble by the entity causing it. also the reverse case is possible - "evil" things we perceive as good.
for example a fisherman, providing for his family by (not knowingly) exterminating an endangered species. or a big, evil and greedy corporation, selling us sweet sweet candy at bargain price - which some of us literally die for.

in such questions i often look at nature - from what i picked up at school, nature mostly acts in "tit for tat" strategy. i cant really think of an animal, or a relationship between species, that is purely "evil".

Interesting topic. Personally I think that the only action that can be described as evil is an action that is done to knowingly and purposefully malign someone else for no other reason than to cause them grief and hardship. Any other action cannot be considered good or evil, universally.

It all has to do with one's perception of reality.

Good and Evil are human concepts, they don't exist.

Thinking in terms of the confines of what we percieve as "good and evil", neither are created or inherent : They are coincidental, single reactions, or a series of reactions which then define someone as either (be it to themselves, or others) good or evil.

Certain things happening to you will make you react in a certain way, and this proclivity to this reaction is fueled by changes in your person, which was fueled by other actions and reactions, ultimately forming a personality.

These things that happen are chance, and your reaction/evolution based on them depends on what the actions were and how in-line they are with what you are at present, as defined by previous experiences.

    Good and Evil are circumstantial.
