wpa/wep network testing
Hey people, well basically i have a big interest in networking and one of the things im doing is experimenting on my wifi networks security at home by trying to crack my wpa password....;-)
found backtrack 4 didnt work for me as every wireless adapter i use seems to not be linux compatible....any ideas of a really simple 1.2.3 step way?
hrm.. are you using a mac?? i tried to use aircrack-ng on a macbook with ubuntu 10.04 and it ended up having incompatible NIC drivers.. but anyways if you dont have a macbook, id recommend ubuntu then after patching your NIC drivers run 'sudo apt-get install aircrack-ng' (if wrong some correct me) then follow these instructions.
Backtrack uses aircrack, which is also available for windows, but kind of tricky to set up there.
The thing with aircrack is, that you need special drivers for your wifi card which supports monitor mode. Here is an overview which wifi chipsets are supported: Aircrack-ng Compatibility
