My geeky anti OSX rant number 6...
So many OSX fans now are saying that OSX is great because it runs a BSD Unix kernel. I have decided to dispel that myth....

    1) Insecure compared to BSD.
As it runs a modified BSD Unix kernel, you would expect it to be secure, but it isn't due to the silly modifications Apple's programmers have added to it. The official hack test proved it was the weakest mainstream platform. No OSX fans can argue with that. Great, you can't catch viruses, but your Mac can still be hacked easy enough due to gapping holes Apple modifications have left in the BSD kernel. The fault is Apple, not BSD, as if you look at other BSD Unix distrobutions, they are secure.

    2) Rubbish OSX compatibility.
OSX fans are very quick to jump on the fact that Linux/BSD has few applications made for it. How can OSX users comment? I never see any good OSX software on the net. Does OSX come with thousands of applications availible off distribution package portals? No. On Linux/BSD, you can download nearlly any application you want, straight off a graphical installer manager. They are always reliable & robust programs that just work. They even install & configure themselves. On OSX you have to hunt down (Few) applications off the net, only to find out that it hasn't been ported properly from Windows. OSX has fewer apllications. Simple as. Unless, you want to do professional video editing, which most Mac users don't.

    3) If you want BSD, use the real thing.
Wow, your OSX has a BSD Unix kernel. Shame it's been modified to crapness by Apple. If you like BSD, then get the real thing. FreeBSD, NetBSD & OpenBSD are far closer to the original BSD Unix kernel than OSX, without all the horrible Apple modifications.

    4) OMFG, my new Mac is more powerful than my 4 year old BSD PC!
Stop comparing a new Mac with a old PC. If you get 2 new, same priced PCs, one Mac, one PC, the PC will win. With Mac, you pay like £100 for just 2GB of RAM. As the hardware is cheaper on PC, you can buy more powerful hardware for your money. PC wins in power. Install OSX on the Mac & PC-BSD on the PC (With the ultra cool KDE 4 preinstalled) & the PC will win in performance, even with the snazzy graphical effects of KDE 4. It just shows which platform can run BSD the best.

My point - OSX shares little of the advantages of the superb BSD Unix kernel. So stop showing off about OSX's 'BSD Unix' kernel. It can't even compare with the real thing, as it has been negatively modified by Apple too much.

Let the flaming begin. No, actually don't  lol

Oh yeah & if you're going to vote, make a post why. Don't bother voting if you have never used another BSD Unix distro. =P

    =) LOL
