Hi folks,
I'm planning to buy a Sony Vaio laptop and I don't know where to start. I know that I want a 15" (give or take), i3, i5 or i7. What would you guys recommend?
Regards!

Hi,
What is your budget, and what do you plan to use it for? Knowing these questions will make it easier for people to give you recommendation. Also does it has to be a Sony?
I want to spend up to $ 1500. I'm pretty sure I want a sony vaio for several reasons, one of them is that I really want a laptop that has a fully integrated dockstation. I had a Lenovo thinkpad and it's awesome, however I like the Sony's design better.
I want a fast computer, with a good (not great) video card for maybe playing old games.
Since you want a Sony and didn't mention anything about weight or battery life, I assumed that those not a main concern. Here are my recommendations. The first one is within your budget and the laptop is loaded.
Sony VAIO VPCF134FX/H @ Microsoft Store

OR you can spend a little more and get this monster!!!
Sony VAIO VPCZ133GX/B
Price: $1599
Display: 13.1 in LED-backlit LCD (1600 x 900)
Processors: Intel Core i5-460M 2.53 GHz, L3 cache 3 MB
RAM: 4 GB DDR3 1066 MHz
Hard Drive: 128 GB SSD
Optical Drive: DVD+-R Double Layer/DVD±RW Drive
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GT330M with 1 GB graphics memory
Audio: Intel High Definition Audio
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional
Battery: 6-cell lithium-ion (7 hours)*
Weight: 3.13 lbs (1.41 kg)
First, let me thank you for having all the trouble to help me out!
The battery isn't an issue, but the weight is a little bit... I think a 16ish inches screen is too much to be carried around.
The first option would be perfect if it was a 14-15" screen.
About the second option, I have some questions (I don't know much about hardware):
- why it is more expensive than the first if it is i5 and not i7, doesn't have a blue ray driver and has only 128GBs against 640GBs?
- looking at the specs, sounds like the first is better in almost everything.
Portability = $$
Look at how much the second one weighs.
Battery: 6-cell lithium-ion (7 hours)*
Weight: 3.13 lbs (1.41 kg)
And the first one is:
Battery: 6-cell lithium-ion (3 hours)*
Weight: 6.85 lbs (3.1 kg)
On top of the the second one contains a SSD or solid state disk.
A 128GB SSD costs about 4 times as much as a 640GB hard drive. 60$ vs 240$
WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT WAT
freu0047 said it perfectly. if you were to take an Apple Macbook and compare it to the Sony, the Sony will destroy the Apple in term of specs.
it weights less, longer battery life, the processor is better, and of course the SSD drive. if you dont know what an ssd drive does, go do a search on youtube for "ssd vs hdd". after that you will know. basically a 128gb ssd drive will cost at least $200.
