Default do you use a NAS?

if so, what is it and how do you have it configured?
I was thinking about getting one, and once thing i thought of was having 2 gigabit ethernet ports for loadbalancing; i was thinking about getting atleast 4 bays, but didn't know whether i should go JBOD or RAID. I've had alot of problems with raid 5 and raid 1+0 for media, whereas JBOD hasn't caused me much problems

I dont exactly have a nas, but I have a little 4 bay serverbox.

It has a build in raid card and I have 4 (2tb) drives. (just got it for christmas).
Newegg.com - SANS DIGITAL TowerRAID TR4UT-B 4 Bay SATA to USB2.0 / eSATA Hardware RAID 5 Enclosure (Black)
Is the model I just got. Its pretty nice I have 4 of these bad boys in it.
    Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

    I was pushing 270 read/170 write over eSata on a raid5 config.

JBOD is sort of a type of raid. Its more like concatenation of spanning of disks that is not a numbered raid type.

However, if your looking for redundancy, you should go raid5.

JBOD isn't really RAID at all, it's more like a "third cousin" of RAID... JBOD can be thought of as the opposite of partitioning: while partitioning chops single drives up into smaller logical volumes, JBOD combines drives into larger logical volumes. It provides no fault tolerance, nor does it provide any improvements in performance compared to the independent use of its constituent drives.

Basically, why use JBOD at all? Why not just plug in each drive by iself?
