You average CPU life is about ~15-20 years before an excessive amount of electromigration. They say excessive heat from overclockong knocks off 10-15% of a CPU life.. So your at the 13.5-18 year range. Some may even last indefinitely...
How many of you still have a processor that old?

Even the pentium II line is only 13 years old now.

Most CPUs become outdated for high end apps within 2 years. And within 5, can no longer run the newest operating system smoothly.

The processor failures you read about are inexperienced noobs who punch unsafe amounts of voltage through they processor and instantly fry it.
No stable overclock has ever killed a processor.

    Anyways, my i7 920 runs at 4.35Ghz.
I can boot at 4.9 easy and bench for competitions at 5.1-5.2.

The purpose of this thread, not to show who has the biggest balls, rather to see how many people know how to get stable overclocks, and just for fun as my first post stated.

If you want to see who has the fastest computer maybe you should start your own thread in that regard.
I will edit the thread and create a list of overclockers. I want to create an overclock club here at TI, and use this thread to post OC results, and proof.

I'm going to start a spreadsheet with peoples OC results. You will have to follow my format to be considered eligible to be added to the list.
Editing the thread now. Will be done with my formatting in an hour or two.
Everyone is free to enter their results, I must get permission to start a club I think?

I've been overclocking for years, but unfortunately my Q6600 has reached its limits for air cooling, and I'm still considering upgrading to water cooling when I get around to buying a new CPU.

To get stable overclocks, you first need to set your motherboard to stock settings. Stock cpu voltage, stock memory voltage, stock front side bus, and stock multiplier. Most intel chips are multiplier locked. So the only other way to get higher clock speeds is to raise FSB. Make sure you have a FSB to Dram ratio of 1 : 1. Thats the best timing. Now you raise up your FSB speed till you cant POST. Okay. Now you clock it down a bit and see what can you POST at. Now, I run prime95 and run RealTemp. Turn that on to see if you have stable overclock. Probably it will freeze or give error. So, you raise up Vcore. Make sure you dont past 1.365 for Intel 45mn chips. Thats is the safe zone for these chips. If you have Q6600 then you can go al the way till 1.5 Vcore cuz thats a 65nm chip. So when you crank up the Vcore, run prime to see if your stable. If not, move your vcore ever so slightly. If you can pass prime95 a tleast 24 hour torture tests, and temperatures are under 70C I would suffice to say you have a stable overclock. Also, dont only raise up your vcore to get stable, you also might need to add voltage to your ram. As your front side bus goes up, you need to add voltage to your ram to keep up. Also this is what I say stable overclock.

I will start my own thread, and want to see peeps fastest stable overclock. I dont mind actually, as I just got into overclocking like 3 days ago. Lol. So Im still noob!

Awesome, start your own thread if you feel mine is insufficient. Don't call yourself a noob, there is no telling how well you will understand this stuff, so I never discriminate against lack of knowledge.
I didn't really read your post that well, so be prepared for me to edit this, and correct you!
Also be prepared for me to show up in your thread alot!!!!!
    I expect the same.
Maybe you could even teach me something new

Just FYI my thread is about highest stable overclock, not who has the fastest computer as you stated earlier, as that person will be the first on the list.
Please post YOUR stable overclock in the format mentioned above to be included in the exclusive (unofficial) overclock club here at TI

Still up, not making a new post...
Here is a my Vantage score right now, want to see what others are hitting
