Thread: Im upgrading and need help

My dad just offered to spend $200 on upgrading my PC! Im pretty excited about it, I'm definitely getting a new processor and a new HDD(much needed). But i also need to keep the total cost less then $200.

My current CPU:
2.40 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 3800+
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Not hyper-threaded
Socket 939



My Motherboard:
Board: NF-CK804
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 06/14/2006


Alright guys so whats the best processor that will fit in my mother board? And with the money left over from the processor i will spend on a new HDD. Please guys help me out

ALSO: if there is a bad ass processor that i can fit on my PC and its close to 200, thats totally fine.
