    Default Dropbox VS SugarSync

    I recently lost a hard drive in my computer, luckily for me it was not the drive with all of our family photos on it! But it was a wakeup call for me. I also am the Treasurer of a Non Profit and about the same time we were challenged to create a document storage policy for our board. Both of these things got me looking into the Cloud for solutions (our non profit does not have a physical location, the cloud is ideal!)

    What I found was a bunch of players I had not heard of before, or at least had not looked into them before. I use my Ubuntu One account, but that does not sync well to my windows partition and I havn't tried with my Android.

    All of that said, I have found a solution that rocks! Check out SugarSync. Right now their free account comes with 5Gb of storage, and you can earn additional storage by going thru their "Getting Started" section. It walks you thru uploading files, sharing files & folders, Posting pictures right to Facebook that you have backed up, shows you that you can even email files to be backed up... pretty good set of features.

    SugarSync on Android is also really nice! Great app, simple and easy to use. They need to have it seach for phone storage and not just SD storage but once that is fixed I wouldn't change anything about this app.

    SugarSync is similar to Dropbox but a bit more feature rich, gives you more space free than drop box, or if you pay for extra space it will save you money!

    SugarSync
    Free = 5.5Gb (5Gb without referral)
    $4.99/month = 40Gb (30Gb without referral)
    $9.99/month = 70Gb (60Gb without referral)
    $14.99/month = 110Gb (100Gb without referral)
    Referrals = 500Gb for free accounts, 10Gb for a paid account!
    No Max bonus space!

    DropBox
    Free = 2.25Gb (2Gb without referral)
    $9.99/month = 50Gb
    $19.99/month = 100Gb
    Referrals = 250Mb per referral, paid or free. Max 8Gb bonus

    The bonus features that SugarSync has is what made up my mind.

    Get it here:

    I put referral codes in because it gives you extra space with it (i also get a bonus if you sign up, so it is a win win).

    Has anyone tried:
    Memopal
    Compatibility: Windows, Mac, Linux (beta), iPhone, iPad
    Pricing:
    3.5Gb with Free Account
    200Gb 49€/year
    Referral Bonus: 500Mb/free account (no max listed)
    Whats different: Not USA based, but USA supported. Can install on 10 computers with personal account. Can share a file, it basically uploads and emails end user with link to file.

    I still favor Sugarsync...

    I've been using Dropbox for a while now. SugarSync sounds like a "more bang for your buck" compared to Dropbox though. Might check it out. What's a referral though?

    Update for SugarSync

    Good news tho for SugarSync users! They have extended their bonus sign up offers. Get 500Mb more free with a free account (5.5Gb) or get 10Gb bonus with a paid account (40Gb for 4.99/month!) (if you are invited to join, PM me for an invite)

    If you go paid account, or think you will upgrade start off witht he paid account and their 30 day free trial. That way it you keep the account you get the 10Gb bonus. You do not get the 10Gb bonus if you start off with a free account and upgrade it. Free and Paid users can now earn UNLIMITED bonus referral space from now till the end of March!! Get your account and start earning some free space!

    Update for DropBox

    Paid DropBox users can now earn up to 16Gb max in referral bonuses.

    Yeah SUgarsync is alot better... The best option in it is to make any folder in your computer to sync to cloud space, while in Dropbox one has a folder in Documents folder only whose content is linked to cloud space, and no other folder can be made shared...
