If your planning on building a new pc using intel's i series, you might want to wait a bit for intels new chipsets & sockets to be released in Q1 of 2011.

It looks like there are actually gunna be 3 new chipsets with the mainstream one being P67 (for i3,i5,and lower model i7's)
The business version is going to be called H57
Finally there is supposely a new one for the i7 higher models & i7 extremes.

There is supposely a new socket for the p67 & h67 chipsets meaning that current releases of the i series CPU's wont work with these new mobo's.....
There is also suppose to be a new socket for the the new i7 extreme chipset...



also the new chipset is supposely dropping support for older PCI slots, so mobo manufacturers now have to add a seperate PCI controller (adds roughly $5 to the cost at the moment). This shows that intel might be trying to get rid of this technology all together...
