Default Most torrent friendly e-book reader?

Trying to pick out a gift for someone, and so far my research on which e-book reader to buy has left me confused so thought I'd come to you guy for help. I want to get a reader with one of the pseudo ink screens so I guess that narrows it down to the amazon kindle, b&n nook, or the sony reader.

So from there I was just wondering which one of these is the most torrent friendly, since I'm guessing some of these only work well with their own proprietary formats. The person is my sister, who while she can find her away around a computer, she is not super literate with them, so would like for it to work with as little headache as possible.

Would also love to hear about other pro/cons besides those I mentioned, if anyone here has any to share.

There's also the kobo (borders) just to add to your list. ;) And just about all of them, except the kindle, will recognize epub or pdf format - both of which are the most common. Kindle is finicky as it only supports .mobi extension - the format that Amazon sells its ebooks in.

Good news for you is that with the program calibre none of this matters. You can input any format and convert it to something readable on your device. I have nook & kindle and I make an epub/mobi copy of all my downloaded ebooks so I can have them on both. This also helps when you download ebooks that are in say... html format or something dumb that might not be recognized on the device. Calibre also lets you edit all that metadata, covers, etc. You connect your device and click one button and it uploads. It's very simple, convenient and a must-have for anybody who owns an ereader.

As for the readers themselves, I love how slim the newest kindle is. This is by far my favorite! It feels great to hold and the screen is very crisp. Nook has a nice touchscreen coverflow at the bottom but I have heard many people complain about how it distracts them from their reading. It's never bothered me because it shuts off automatically. I dislike how clunky the sony is - feels nothing like a book to me but it might be worth it for the full touch screen. ;) Kobo looks nice but is not as popular and I've never seen one in person so no real feedback to give. :(

    Hope that helps!

Take a look at the Bebook Neo(Onyx Boox) and the Nook. Both can read .pdf just fine especially the first.

What type of books are to be read via e-reader? (conventional novels/emagz vs comics vs professinal/textbooks) This is a major determinant factor esp for the size of the screen.
What file formats are to be used? (e.g chm is not widely supported but a famous format for textbooks)
    Is touch screen a criterion?
    Is the price important?
You can find great info here.
