Linux is totally cool and "GREAT n BEST" for servers, I run Ubuntu 10.04 LTS in my VPS and its really amazing. But for Desktop, I vote for Windows 7.
I would have to agree with kingscorpion on Linux, its very stable so its great for any kind of server and the fact that it will install any extras you might need or could ever want along with dependancys for whatever you choose automatically from repositories for free. Windows 7 is a great win platform i have had Ultimate x64 for over a year now and it has way better performance compaired to vista, especially in its network stack. Vista blows i just installed it on my older pc, and it would only transfer files at 5Mbps to or from my win7 machine over my Lan. When i boot up xp i get slightly over 10Mbps with identical network settings (ip, shared folder names, workgroup)
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate , it is so coool and great ...
Win7, because of games. I have used linux for desktop, laptop, and home server in the past, but the poor/nonexistent support for linux by game developers has locked me into Windows for daily desktop use.
Right now I am using Windows XP. I have messed around with linux, but cannot install it on my current system I use because it's my mom's. As soon I purchase myself a computer I will be using linux once again.
Im using a MACPRO wich I transformed into a MACrosoft.
Im pretty sure it has forgotten its a MACPRO and now belive its father is Microsoft.
Im not so fund of OSX and find it annoying in many ways.
So 95 % of the time im using Windows 7 32bit, I have a build in 80 GB INTEL V2 SSD dedicated solo to Snowleopard, but its a waste of good SSD place and almost havent been used.
So are at the moment thinking about installing Windows 7 64bit into on of the SSD disk, so i can take advantage of the 7 GB ram the system have.
