Thread: WD TV HD Media Player

I just picked this guy up last week. It ran me $150 at best buy but you can find it online for cheaper. So, You probably want to know what It does. Well, It is another must have for movie torrenters. You plug your external hard drive into it and play all your downloaded media on yout TV. It has an HDMI port for full 1080p HD content as well. It supports the following files: MPEG 1/2/4, WMV9, AVI, XVID, AVC, H.264, MKV, MPEG4, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, PNG, MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV/PCM/LPCM, AAC, FLAC, AC3, AIF,/AIFF, MKA, PLS, M3U, WPL, & SRT (UTF-8) As you can see, this thing can do a lot. This is a good thing to have, at the moment i am pluging my HD into my DVd player which is fine for xvid etc. but it can't play hi-def and alot of other formats like MKV.
Also the display can only show 8 characters?

Yeah, I was doing the same thing as you but I decided to upgrade.

Even though it plays MKVs, I heard it chocks when you try to fast forward or reverse the video and I also heard that sometimes it won't play some of the audio codecs so yeah.. im not really sure I want one of these. Oh yea i forgot one important thing, it has a nasty UI
