I personally don't bother with a software firewall as they are easily circumvented if someone really wants to. A hardware firewall like those built into routers is the best bet.
I use Netlimiter. Besides being an Internet Limiter (wow, what a revelation :P ) I use it for it's Firewall feature mainly.
It's lightweight, doesn't cause any problems with other software shows how much each program is eating the internet. There is blocking per program. Is manual enough for techie in me and automatic enough if I am lazy or if I install it for other people.
Eset smart security is the best , especially for oldish computers coz its very very lightweight and effective
Kaspersky Internet Security. It's an all-in-one tool, I don't particulary like such things but I liked old prog Kaspersky Anti-Hacker (firewall) so when they merged all their security soft into one prog I jsut had to use it.
