    Default Green computer

I'm looking for information on any low power consumption motherboards and processors. I have window home server currently running on a biostar board with an AMD 2800, 3 hard drives and the power consumption is 135 watts, looking to get it lower as this machine needs to stay running 24/7, with the current setup the machine uses 100 KWH which in my area equates to $18 per month. if anyone knows any sites that have information or if you can provide info that would be helpful.

What socket type motherboards are you interested in?

Edit: Is it a motherboard for the AMD 2800 CPU?

yeah, I know the AMD 2800 tops out at 60watts so the motherboard and in a very small amount the harddrive must be using the rest. each additional hard drive is like 3 watts, pretty low. so i would be looking for a socket 462 motherboard that is very low consumption.

Sorry but I don't have any webpages, you might be interested in looking around on Google?
I know one in Dutch that might have some information about it: tweakers.net and otherwise hardware.info might have some. But those are almost utterly useless if you don't speak the language. =)

Try google, you might find something there. ^^
I think AMD currently has the lowest power consumption at the moment. And you also might be interested in looking for some other CPU architectures as ARM etc. Those are know have a better efficiency than x86 CPU's, but you probably will have to go to Linux or BSD for that. And I also don't know how much CPU power you need?

I need atleast 1ghz to run the os but the additional 1ghz that i get from the 2800 is very helpful when i streaming movies to my xbox 360, I know i will probley need to go to another motherboard cpu combination to get some good results. I know i have read a review somewhere about a processor that runs around the 30 watt mark at full tilt and it had some decent MHZ's. Thanks for your input Elonoir!

AMD linked up with a green company to make a range of 'Green' PCs. I saw them advitised in a magazine. I can't remember the name, but I know they all used AMD CPUs.
