And by "open-endedness" I didn't mean the source code itself is free or anything, I meant to say that you can fiddle around with the core operations of the OS by messing around in the registry and editing DLLs and CFG files, something which Mac doesn't allow.

And then there's the shear popularity of the Windows OS. You go on the net, you download any random app from anywhere, rest assured it'll be an exe that'll run without issues. With a Mac you'd have to look for a Mac version which, for many apps created by smaller companies, does not exist.

Oh, and did I mention the lack of compatibility with games? It's slowly increasing, but again, not every game has a Mac version.
I never "compared" the two. I said using XP was an unpleasant experience, besides it was an unpleasant experience 9 years ago too. Along with just about every Windows release. I don't like using Windows, I know this bugs you, but seriously it's my prerogative which operating system I use. I'm trying very hard not to flame here, but you're making this very difficult not to. Because you obviously know nothing about OSX or Apple.

Also maybe popularity gets your vote, but I like to make decisions for myself, maybe you should give it a try. No difficulty finding Apps here and I don't have a single Windows based App installed on my machine. I can also edit my system files to my liking, no Apple doesn't approve of this, but it is 100% possible. In fact they are many sites dedicated to doing exactly this. Take a look around the forums here, you will see my system is completely modded.

As for games, no one buys a Mac to play games. However games for Apple having actually been increasing over the years. Besides the obvious ones like Blizzard. Steam was just released for Mac last year with a ton of Mac compatible games. And if that still isn't enough for you, just install Windows via BootCamp and play any game that your little heart desires, well as long as you have the correct system requirements (Ram, video card, ect...).

Oookay I'll just be leaving this thread cuz people are starting to take things personally. I never said anything along the lines of "You're stupid for using OSX cuz it sucks!" I was just expressing my opinion on the matter and countering your anti-Windows argument, whether or not you find those arguments valid or not is a completely different story (and one which I don't care about either), nothing personal.

Seriously you either read waaay to much into people posts or you're delusional. I never had an "Anti Windows argument". I said it was a miserable experience, that's my opinion. Then you started spouting out incorrect information about OSX for no reason other than to derail a perfectly good thread.

A friend just got one last month. Yeah, it's gorgeous.

I just have a MacBook, but I'm so used to Windows that I'm not as productive with OSX, yet. The gestures on the touchpad have spoiled me for using other laptops, though. :)

I have the i5 27" myself. Bought it when it came out last fall. I was one of those lucky ones that got a model without any flaws. It had a bunch of graphical issues and so forth.

Can't say I miss the old desktop to be honest. And I love the way I can switch between OSX and Windows with boot camp. Then I can play games in Windows and do my photography editing and stuff on the OSX.

I'd love to have a macbook too, but I can't afford.

Congrats. I dont like macs cuase they are overpriced. NO I dont care that they use rare metals to create the case. Or that their OS is based on Unix, so is linux. I dont care that they dont get viruses. They just too overpriced. The iphone on the other hand is the best cell phone out there, apple did that right. But the macs are overpriced.

Macs are not overpriced, you can just get cheaper computers. You can't think of the cost/value of a Mac by thinking "well, if I can build a PC with the same specs for less money on NewEgg, then it's overpriced."

When you buy a Mac you pay for:
    - Top quality build (relative to other computer manufacturers)
    - Thoughtful design and usability
    - Mac OS X
    - Local Apple stores/Genius Bar (honestly, your alternative is Geek Squad)

If you actually give in and use a Mac for a year, you'll see how you compute differently and have a completely different and happier computing lifestyle relative to other options. It just works.
