Default Best Sofware to play Full Blu-Ray (BDMV & Certificate)

    hey Guys,

Can you supply me info as to what is the best software suitable to play full Blu-Ray files (BDMV & Certificate folders). Right now I'm using Arcsoft's TotalMedia Player. Not quite user friendly. I hope you can suggest some with superior features. Thanks

IMO, Power-DVD 10, bit expensive but my best experience so far for HD content & blue rays, great video up scaling technology with a user friendly interface too. the newest version can play out 3D content as well.
BTW I found that Arcsoft's TotalMedia Player quite handy when hooking up my PC to the LCD panel for playback.

It's what I use too, although I am looking for a change.

Can some one guide me as to where should I point to play the downloaded movie folder using PowerDVD 10. Because it only plays files that is in ISO. Unlike TotalMedia Player, no need to create ISO. Just click the folder icon and locate the Movie folder and its playable

    Dear iphonekhsc,

I know it's a bit too late to post this, considering that you had started the thread on 01-Sept. I was considering getting myself my first MacBookPro and while researching it's Pro's and Con's, I stumbled upon the following article online and I thought I would share the following information with you and other members with the hope that it would help us all with insights into understanding BDMV formats and how to go about converting & playing them on Mac.

The following article examines how to play and convert BDMV files on Mac. The methods works for BDMV folder from AVCHD camcorder and Blu-ray movies with MTS/M2TS extension files. Since there have been minimal test on BDMV folder with DBMV extinction files the suggestions contained herein may not work 100% as intended.Players mentioned below might not support all MTS/M2TS file playback, depending on used compression formats in a MTS/M2TS files in BDMV folder. Understanding BDMV

In short, BDMV files are Blu-ray Information files. BDMV supports high definition video encoded according to MPEG-2, AVC (MPEG-4 Part 10), and VC-1 specifications. You might find BDMV files from:

    • HD Camcorders' AVCHD folders (BDMV and CERTIFICATE) with M2TS extension files. For Sony HDR-SR11 camcorder, the AVCHD files will bear the MTS extension.
    • Blu-ray disk with BDMV folder and files with BDMV extension.
    • Ripped Blu-ray DVD movies, the folder structure of which is all contained in a BDMV folder structure with M2TS extension files.
    • Blu-ray movie with BDMV & CERTIFICATE folder, one subfolder of the BDMV folder is the Stream folder and in this folder there is a MTS extension file.

Learning how to play BDMV files on Mac

VLC media player is the most popular way to play MTS/M2TS files.
Download VLC media player and run this application, drag the MTS Video to the play list, and then double click it. Now you can play MTS video on your Mac:

Tips: You need to have iLife'08 installed in order to play MTS/M2TS files using VLC.

Other Media players for MTS/M2TS playback

Some MTS/M2TS files can be played with ALLPlayer, MPlayer, Windows Media Player, Bsplayer and other media players, depending on used compression formats in a MTS/M2TS file. Some players will need an appropriate codec, component or plug-in installed.
The file type MTS/M2TS is not always automatically associated with the player, so it may be necessary to open it from the player

Steps to convert BDMV files to to iPod QuickTime, MP4, iMovie, FCP, etc. on Mac.

Step 1: Download and install BDMV Video Converter for Mac

Step 2: Load M2TS/MTS files in BDMV folder
