Default What laptop would you buy?

Hi guys, I've been out of the laptop spec game for a while and I feel a little lost as to what equipment I should be looking at. So, I thought I might ask any laptop-savvy peeps out there what they think. But before you answer I think you should know a few things. I am a power user that can have these things open simultaneously at any given time:

    - browser windows, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, torrent applications, video editting software, video rendering, font applications, etc.

And for the purposes of this question, my budget is at around $2000. I'd also be willing to spend extra if you think it would be a wiser idea. Thanks!!!

With that kind of budget, look beyond the mundane companies like Dell, Lenovo etc. Take a look at Alienware, Clevo and Sager (though don't get too happy as they have $4k laptops too :P)

custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks

Sager allows you to make custom laptops as well i.e. you choose what components you want to put in. But generally to run all those apps smoothly you'll need a good amount of RAM (4GB should be okay, but 6GB would be ideal). And a corei5 or i7 procesor.

P.S. If you don't plan on running any video games on it then it'd be better to go with a workstation GPU like the Nvidia Quaddro (I'm not sure if the Quaddro has laptop variants though). These GeForce and Radeons and mainly aimed at gamers, but a powerful one should run all those apps fine too.

You might also wanna invest in a decent laptop cooler. These high-end brands usually do give good running temps but still.

Netbooks are light systems designed for long battery life, there's actually a pretty good chance it'll explode if you run all the apps the OP's mentioned at the same time...

Buying a Macbook he'll find himself spending $2k on a measly dual core with 3GB RAM. Let's face it, Mac hardware is ridiculously over-priced, not to mention the apps he's mentioned he wants to run don't all have Mac versions.

Edit: Sorry for the double post, I thought they automerge.
