Thread: Modem for wnr2000

Here is my old and now dying modem router:

DSL Modems & Gateways - - Thomson ST585v6 (Internet zone)


I have been given a netgear wnr2000:

WIRELESS-N - WNR2000



I like the router, however no built in modem.



NOW rather than just getting a new router with built in modem, I thought I might buy a separate modem as I am sure it will work out cheaper.......maybe..... I have had ZERO experience with individual modems and so I ask, what would be the best modem to get.

Brand new DSL Modems are pretty rare nowadays. Most manufacturers have stopped producing them in lieu of the usual Modem/Router combos.

If you don't mind buying pre-owned, I suggest a SpeedStream 4100. They're very reliable. I had one a long time ago, and switched multiple ISPs while using the same modem with no problems.
