Thread: What to do with an old tower?

I built an XP machine from an mini-itx mobo and case its about as big as 4 dvd cases stacked up. Footprint is super small. has a laptop drive in it (too small to fit a normal size drive) and it runs XP and utorrent with utorrents web gui. it also has VNC server on it and thats it. It used to have an external WD 2tb drive on it until i took it out of its house and attached it directly to the sata port on mobo. I also have a win2k8r2 running as a media server to a WDTV Live HD connected to my TV.

You can look into setting up QoS, it won't improve your torrenting per se, but it will probably improve the quality of the rest of your connection while you're running torrents on that thing ;)

Forget the seedbox idea then. You need somekind of power behind a seedbox. I would just use it as storage or donate it to a poor kid who needs a computer to do his english homework :)
