In settings > Module > Reconnection, go to "select router" and choose yours. If the router isn't in the list, JDownloader has a script recorder; if you are able to do a manual change of IP from your router, the program can record your steps and create a reconnection script from it.

I used to use it until I tried JDownloader, so far it's the best because it not only can do the same thing, it has even more functions as well.

You are right, as currently it has a limit of 20 working downloads and connections at the same time, this may change once the program hits the stable version of 1.0. So, in the end, it doesn't take advantage of all the released connections that the server provides.

However, if you are a premium member and your browser is Opera, you don't need any generic download manager to get the work done.

I think my ip address is static because no matter how many times i restart my router I still have the same ip. Is there any way around this?

to me, internet download manager gives the maximum speed; at least it shows to be downloading at the max speed; i heard my friend say to me that idm shows a higher down speed than it really does at though by a minor difference; but not much of an issue to me. idm rocks!

I tried "Internet Download Manager" recently. The reason these so-called "internet speeder-uppers" work is because they use more than one connection. From what I understand, the usual Firefox/Internet Explorer uses a single connection to download. If you're using a good mirror, or aren't using one of those crappy pay-2-download sites like rapidshare, then it shouldn't be a problem. However, these download managers sometimes help, depending on what site you use one of them on. For sites like megaupload/rapidshare, though, you would need a premium account in order to be able to use those extra connections. That's where the download manager would come into play.

Then the only way to change your IP is by changing the MAC Address, it can be done manually without problems from your router.

    • The good news: It's possible to create a script to do such thing automatically.
    • The bad news: It's even more advanced than you think, so it will be hard to do so.

Well to be honest i have never tried JDownloader, but i don't know if any of you have ever tried Flashget, the best download manager i have ever used with everything, normal downloads, rapidshare, megaupload, etc but ofcourse its not good with torrents. Its free and you get an add-on for firefox called flashgot that allows you to add stuff from firefox to Flashget. I reach speeds of up to 1.5Mbs but the average on average downloads is 295kbs which is still fast compared to the browsers which peak at like 79kbs (usually 54kbs for me).

JDownloader or Flashget seem to be as good as you'll get.

I don't know much about changing the MAC address, so correct me if I'm wrong. But according to this article, "the ISP expects the MAC address to match the registered value at all times. Whenever a customer replaces that device, however, or changes the network adapter inside it, the MAC address of this new equipment will no longer match the one registered at the ISP. The ISP will often disable the customer's Internet connection for security (and billing) reasons."

So by changing my MAC address is it possible that my ISP might disable my internet?
