Default Windows 7 Media Centre Codecs

    hi guys,

A quick one for you. I'm in the process of building my HTPC (dedicated media centre) and am going to hook it up to a 50" plasma. Anyway i'm wanting to know what Codec packs you guys recommend for it?

    Windows 7 X64 bit version

7MC has built in codecs. The only think I installed was AC3Filter and Haali Media Splitter and everything plays great.

You can use 3rd party video codecs, but I think some of them will make live TV not work. If you aren't using the HTPC to record that isn't a problem. I got a lot of info from http://www.hack7mc.com/ when I set mine up.

Also with x64 it uses a 64-bit media player, so all your codecs/splitters need to support 64 bit.

I don't think it supports it out of the box but there should be a way to get it to work. I don't use .flv so I'm not sure what you would need to get it running.

I find CCCP doens't really intergrate well with Windows Media player. SRT files, Mkvs sometimes doen't show up the Subs. QQ maybe it's me but i stick with my MPC HT version
