Default Fresh 64 bit Win7 Install - HTPC Help

Hey all! Not sure if this is the right area to post this but I have just reinstalled my Windows 7 rig. I have not added a single codec yet as I want to do this right.

My main goal is to be able to listen to all my files in 5.1. I connect via fiber optic to my receiver (which is not lossless and cannot handle the newer formats). Most of my files are AAC, AC3, & MP4s.

I would totally replace all of them if I could figure out which file type to stick with to get 5.1 all the time. My MC7 plays over the air stuff in 5.1.

Let me know what other questions you have to get me pointed in the right direction. I think last time i did the Shark7 package but wasnt getting everything to play in 5.1, got a lot of Stereo. I know, it is time to buy a new receiver but cant do that yet.

    Thanks for the help!

not really sure if I understand but I will try to help :p

you are saying that your windows 7 is not playing those formats? if so then get the klite package and you will be able to play everything.
if the receiver is the problem then I guess you will have to switch formats to MP3

I have never had any problems playing any files because I use customized OS from rocker's team, I recommend it to you, their latest windows 7 version is called "Windows 7 Alienware" and it comes in both x86 and x64.

Not too sure about the 5.1 as I don't have a setup for that. When it comes to codecs I stick with CCCP personally.

However this is always a matter of opinion. You will have those who love klite and those who love CCCP. I've tried both and CCCP has always worked like a charm for me personally.

Is this on a few trackers, or on one? PM link?

    EDIT: NVM, I found it.

I'll try the CCCP and see how it plays. Since it is a fresh install I can get back to fresh pretty quick ;)
