Google Voice Is Now OPEN!
Just this morning, Google announced that it was opening its doors to allow anyone to be able to sign up for Google Voice - no invite required! So go now before they possibly close it back up or run out of phone numbers.

Thanks for the tip BANE. Despite the dozen links or so *about* the Google Voice service on that blog post, it actually took me a minute to figure out where to go to sign up for the service itself. In case it helps anyone else:

It is great! Especially if you have an android based phone! Works great together. One of the great things is you can get Google Voice to do what you want. I have turned several people onto GV before it was open and they all use it different ways. Also nice to have a number that is located in what ever area code you want it to be.
