Thread: Will you get an iPad? and why?

I have a Macbook, iPhone, and an iPad. I love the iPad. I watch movies, play games, and read books on it. All from the comfort of my bed, something I can't do with my Macbook. You should get one

I should preface this with that I strongly dislike the Mac paradigm. They are way too closed, too simplistic, and too overpriced for my taste. I also hold their user population suspect strictly because they like spend too much money on an inferior and dumbed-down product. I don't believe computers need to be complicated, but they simply MUST be flexible. If I didn't require very good programs, I'd be living in linux land with beliefs like mine, but as it stands, I need to compromise and thank god Microsoft finally made an excellent OS.

Anyway, because I've dreamed of living in Star Fleet for nearly my entire life, I've been forced to set aside all of my beliefs about Mac in considered the iPad... because I REALLY want a P.A.D.D.!!!

And in considering the price vs. features vs. coolness I was forced to decide that the iPad is a stupid purchase, plain and simple. I will NOT be getting one. Mac anything seems to be mostly good for nothing. As soon as there's an open PADD device, you better believe I'll be there, giggling like a lunatic, but once again, all Mac has delivered is a toy for people who want the illusion that one size fits all.

Thats what I use my TV for, I do enjoy the iphone to death though.

I will never get an IPad, I already have a damn nice computer. My aunt bought 5 of them when they first launched she loves them I dont see that love.

I wouldn't buy anything Apple if my life depended on it - if I ever won any apple product for free it would be on eBay the next day!

Considering the number of times I've dropped my Iphone - it even survived a 2 story fall onto solid concrete - I know that an Ipad is not going to last long. The things are so thin and shiny I can just picture it slipping and then SMASH!! I'm in Australia - I hate H*rvey N*rman because of their crap ads on TV and the way they dish out credit so easily HOWEVER they offer the Ipad on a lease type deal which covers the thing for accidental damage too. It works out a bit more expensive, more than 30% more expensive but a plan like this could save an expensive accident. I doubt I'll go for it, I'll try to resist and wait for something better which has more functions and features - HDMI, USB etc...

The ipad is an oversized ipod... Not sure why anyone would buy one. Can't even put it in your pocket anymore.

Not only that, but the new iphone is faster than the giant ipad? And the iphone isn't even that fast to begin with.

I would say don't get the ipad, but then again, I really hate apple so I may be a litlle biased...

I still prefer my macbook to a ipad anyday.
