facebook blocked in Pakistan due to "Every Body Draw Muhammad Day"?

what do you guys think about the event at facebook and the reaction of Muslim countries and Muslim people?

Well I think it was only one day ban if I am not right...
it's kind of sad to see this I wonder how many muslims actually folow it but faith is faith you can't do anything about it..nor we have right to comment on someelses relegious view..as they are not doing anything for us...

though I wonder how they were able to ban facebook....and god knows how many proxies are there in this world...lol

Similar to forbidden's view. To each his own I guess. Some people are extremely offended and some could care less.

Closing the eyes does'nt mean there is nothing happening outside the world.Its just their way of thinking.Its only banned in Pakistan but muslims and others in rest of the world must be taking part in it.What about them.

I feel banning is not the solution,You should have the character to say no to bad thing.

Extremists always do things like this.In my country also extremists create problems when Valentine day is celebrated.
I hate these kind of thing and It has nothing to do with religion.
Religion does not divide you but teaches you to be live like family.No matter what religion you follow.

And how sure is this that this incident of banning will stop people visiting facebook via proxies.But it surely have done a great deal of free publicity for facebook.

Wow, I had no idea this even caused such a reaction.

I think it's just plain ridiculous. It's a gross over reaction on Pakistan's part. I'm assuming this is all because of that South Park episode? Well the way certain Muslims handled that was already outrageous, South Park is basically an internet troll put into cartoon form and more funny. If South Park offends someone, they should remember the show isn't supposed to be taken seriously.

Because of what happened after that episode, all the censorship, this facebook event started. It seems like the group had a valid point to make, and the people who started it were at least being polite. But you're telling me Pakistan blocked all of facebook because of only 115,000 people who showed support for this group?

I just don't know what to say other than Pakistan must want to do anything necessary to lose respect from the rest of the world. It's kind of childish to block a whole website which has a lot more to offer than one thing that might be found offensive. If you actually do live there and you like facebook, then I'm sorry it was blocked for you Black. I mean, did you know about this facebook group before it got facebook banned in your country? I don't think I would have known before hand because it's such a small group, and I don't think I would have cared even if I saw it. I would just be more pissed that facebook is blocked.

Black, I'm interested in what you think of the whole thing since you live there and will have a very different perspective than mine. Does it bother you that your government did this? Did the group or event on facebook bother you?

yeah I did saw that group and de-activated my facebook account even before the blockade , and government of Pakistan did not block facebook due to that group, but the refusal of facebook administration to remove that group was the motive behind the blockade, if facebook offends my religion then to hell with facebook.

Aww that's too bad you got rid of your facebook because of it. But, you have to understand the site owner's position, if they take action on something like this they cannot protect one group of people's beliefs without offending another's. In this case if they sided with the Pakistan government, they would have offended just as many other people who are members of facebook and believe they had every right to start that group. Sometimes it's better for a relationship between the company and the users if the company doesn't interfere on controversial issues such as these.

Maybe you can come back to facebook one day, it's not like you have to talk to those people in the group :001_smile:

well if stopping the offender is offending then there is no point in arguing, as then would we call America the offender to attack Iraq? as they stopped Iraq from offensive programs by attacking them and killing millions of people? would u name that and offense? certainly not
