    Default NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480

So Video Card manufacturing giant NVIDIA have finally released their newest Flagship cards more than a year after the GTX 295 was released. It's the GTX 480 and it's being called a "tessellation monster". What does that mean exactly? Click here to find out.

The GTX 480 is an interesting card, but I think it's worth waiting till the next generation. NVidia is having huge yield problems because the die is so large. Its bad enough that they had to disable one of the SM compute clusters. As such, it is *not* a full GF100 implementation. ATI actually uses the same manufacturer, and they had similar problems with their Radeon 5870 series. The TSMC 40nm process is just not there yet. So, while the GTX480 is a good first start, NVidia's still got a few bugs to work out.

Not too amazing probably skip this one, it uses quite a bit of energy... for something equivalent to a Radeon 5870

My feeling is that Nvidia are starting to lagg behind ATi in terms of developement the 4800's series blew the nvidia 9800's series out of the water and i think that there 5900's series will be cheaper and better than this new card but time will tell.

4800 series is comparable to gtx 200s, not 9800s

    Just Sayin......

And 4800s vs 260, 65, etc does not blow it out of the water. If you look at the actual tests on tomshardware.com, etc -- youll see that in some cases, ATI is better, and in others, Nvidia is better. Overall, if you go through many of the tests, ATI is a little better, and by a little better, we're talking maybe 3-5%, overall.

Yeah man but from the starting point since AMD purchase of ATI ,they have started to bridge the gap between themselves and Nvidia 4 years ago i wouldnt touch an ATI card now i feel myself ready to buy an ATI.

It seems Nvidia are living off there name and severely behind and losing the races against ATI on price and performance.
