Thread: Linux vs The World - Which do you prefer?

I have to say, I am a hard core Ubuntu user. Now I always get laughed at because yes there arent many games compared to other OS. But you know what, if I wanted to game out I would simply use my PS3.
Quite frankly I find everything simply SO much easier in ubuntu compared to windows. Not only is everything free (well intentionally that is) but it has
a) better support due to the mass amount of people who are willing to help
b) The ability to actually mount hard drives in ways you want to and not be suck in that Microsoft thinks is best.
c) Your choices are both alot more plentiful and if you screw up instead of restarting everything your trying to do chances are you can simply go one step back and redo. (not sure if everyone will understand this points, it makes sense to me)



Linux FTW!

Although I'm running Windows at the moment, I certainly do prefer Linux overall. My two favourite distros are the RHEL-based Fedora and BT. I don't have the hardware specs to successfully dual boot so once I get a new computer running, I'll be making the switch.

When it comes down to running and securing a server, Linux absolutely annihilates Windows as well. It's no surprise that a large number of giant corporations are using Linux themselves to power their services and servers.

On the main computer I use Windows7 but i have another computer running Ubuntu linux. Personally I am aware of the great advantages of Linux but having little programming experience I cannot say that I can benefit of the full advantages that Linux Offers. So that is my reason why i head mainly towards Windows products.

windows server 2003r2 on my server, because I have i've never had a problem with it. Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop because it's light weight and paired with my SSD I boot un about 15 seconds. Windows7 on my HTPC because WMC with the Media browser is tits, I tried mythbuntu but it's not ready yet.
