So im deciding whether to get a pass manager so i don't have to keep all my passwords written down in random pieces of paper or files.

Im wondering do people actually use these or are they just nonsense, and if so which one would you recommend? btw i mainly use firefox so one that could integrate with that would be good but not necessary and if you can list the benifits of the particular program and why it works for you

I'm on OS X and I use 1Password. It's by far the best password-storing app I've ever had the privilege of using. It's organized, well put-together, has a nice interface, and most importantly it gets the job done well.

For Windows, though...I'm not sure, I haven't had much of an issue with that, I just let Firefox remember my passwords and then leave it at that.

I really prefer to do what i'm doing instead of saving them online.

I followed the tutorial from konVILEuted and it's really great...

    You can find it here

Should have mentioned I'm using Vista and i'd prefer not to leave them saved in firefox because of other family members sometimes on my laptop

PasswordMaker for Firefox. It is a password manager, only use it though if you want to create new passwords for all the sites you go to. It creates unique passwords for each site based on the characters you select to use, the length, your username, and the url of the site. It will give you some secure passwords, I don't think you can integrate passwords you use already into it though.

I know u already have what u want, but i just wanted to throw this out there. If your using FireFox and Keepass, then u should really look into KeeFox. Its a new FF addon, which integrates KeePass into FF. It doesnt show on the FF addon page yet cause its still in development, but i been using it so far with no issues. Here is where u can find and read nore about it. U should definitely look into it if your already using the other two > KeeFox - Simple and secure password management for Firefox users with KeePass
