Our well informed sources have suggested that AMD's Llano dual-core CPU with graphics might come at the same time as Intel's Sandy Bridge „fusion“ chip. Contrary to what some may think, Llano is an APU (Accelerated processing unit), not the Kwikimart clerk from The Simpsons and this product from AMD should arrive in Q1 2011.

We already heard that it comes in 2011 but we could not get any more precise than that. Llano will come in dual- and quad-core versions, although a three core version is probably also possible. It has a DirectX 11 based GPU, and it is a 32nm chip with DDR3 support.

This chip is aimed at the mobile market as well as the mainstream desktop market. When it comes to graphics performance, Llano should leave Intel’s Sandy Bridge based products in the dust.
