Well technically, if you're on a 32 bit OS you won't be utilizing the entire 4 GB as you would be on the 64 bit one.. You're using approximately 3.5 GB. So to some, that 500 (512) MBytes goes a long way. Just thought I'd put that out if my previous statement about 4 GB made people assume you're using the entirety of the 4 GB on a 32 bit system.

I have less that 4gbs of ram on my laptop so for that reason I had to go with 32bit.

You should read some of the earlier posts as you will find that is untrue.

I've been using Vista (64bits) and Win XP (32bits), never had any major problems.
64bits is useful if you have more than 4gb of ram.

I've been using Windows XP 64 Bits and Windows Vista 64 bits for several years without any major problems! (Yes, there was a 64-bit XP available in '05, read more about it here Windows XP editions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )

I actually had more problems with poorly written software, that wouldn't handle the 64-bit OS editions, than with device drivers. Finding drivers for several devices proved to be tricky, but a couple of Google searches usually turned up the correct drivers :)

After these quite nice experiences, my migration from Vista 64-bit to Win7 64-bit was flawless, as all drivers that I previously used in Vista worked in Win7!

64bit. IMproved performance of apps and games and the ability to use all your RAM!

Don't forget, 64 bit is safer.

Alot of viruses are written for 32 bit, since more people still use 32 bit (though that's starting to change), and people that use 32 bit are more likely to fall for a scam (elderly people, people who know less about computers). Since SysWOW64 usually won't emulate 32 bit viruses, they don't work.

The pros with 64 bit is stability and more ram. 32 bit have limits to 3 gb, 64 bit have limits from 8 gb up to 128 gb or so (depends on wich win7 version you buy)
