    Would replacing the motherboard battery improve performance?

    No, replacing the CMOS battery does absolutely nothing in terms of performance. It's only used to store BIOS settings and the time. If you want to boost performance, and you already probably know, is to add additional RAM, overclock, or simply buy a new processor.

    1. replacing your cpu
    2. upgrade your memory say from 500mhz to 1 gig or 2 gig
    3.also do a scan and get rid of spyware or adware
    4. defragment your hd also helps improve your performance
    this is just some things to help you out

    No, but on some motherboard (if not all) pulling the battery erase all the settings, usefull when you forget your bios password.

    Try cleaning the dust out of your pc and putting some new thermal grease in there
