Hello, i'm thinking to build a HTPC, but is must be noiseless. I don't even know how to start. Do you know what case should i buy?
It must be:
- passive cooling
- low energy
I want to see 1080p blu-ray.
Thanks.

By default if you build a proper HTPC it will be low energy because of the lack of space for components. I recently a 1080 htpc rig for a family member and it ran just off of a 400w power supply. As for a passive cooling system, I'm not really sure if that's possible. Because HTCP cases are so small with little ventilation you really do need fans to push air through it - even if you were to water cool it (which I imagine on a HTPC would be a pain). However if you build a quality build with nice quality fans, you really won't be able to hear it if your surround sound it at a low-mid range level.
Newegg has a great selection of HTPC cases. Link here: newegg.

I built my first HTPC using the Antec Fusion Black case. It's a tad pricy when I got it. Nearly $200 without a PS unit, but it's extremely stylish and fits well on any shelf. It even comes with a remote which works for the most part, but I prefer using a bluetooth keyboard anyways. The case is fairly spacious with enough ventilation to keep decent airflow. However, mt3ch is correct about HTPC cases being small. You will obviously see the difference from a mid size tower and any HTPC cases. Just try keeping components to a minimum. Oh, and the Antec also have those silicone removable HDD brackets which really mitigates the noise. Newegg should have the case listed so you could search there for any other relevant details. Well good luck and have fun building.
here is a review by tomshardware, about some HTPC cases and they have a little introduction about the hardware i think its a good place to start :D Three Mainstream Home Theater PC Cases Compared : Mainstream Home Theater PC Housings - Review Tom's Hardware
Thank you for the help, I will see the cases and see what is better for me. The antec fusion black looks goodI have to decide for one... I will try to find one that permits space for some passive cooling... i have to see the reviews.
Thank you all for the help.
