    Default Cctv

I'm thinking about installing some CCTV cameras myself. What software is the best to monitor the cameras remotely and locally and which equipment would you use?

I need several outdoor day/night cameras
    A number of internal cameras
    A recording device
    Monitoring software
    Cheap secure cabling

    What else would you need?

    Default CCTV Installation

This is somehow part of my current job :)

Let me tell you what I'd do in 10 steps:

1- Get a floor plan diagram (map) of the place im internding to install cctv cameras in
2- Locate the critical, most important areas that need to be monitored
3- Place the cameras by drawing them over my map
4- Locate the room where the recorder (DVR) will be placed (Note: This room needs an Airconditioning system with a provision to install a UPS system)
5- Think about cables and the best way to route those from cameras to the DVR [Conduits or cable trays] (This also includes the electricity cables which will go from the UPS to the cameras // remember* signal cables and electricity cables are supposed to be isolated for noise reduction)
6- Choose your DVR: DVR is chosen based on capacity (in days/months time) and features (Such as network support, fast forwarding and motion detection)
7- and Cameras: Cameras are chosen based on resolution, quality, focal length (lens)and type (IP or cable based) [Dome cameras for internal use and weather proof cameras for outside use
8- Choose a UPS based on the number of hours you would like the cameras to operate after electricity failure
9- Connect the electricity to UPS, and the UPS to DVR and Cameras. Connect DVR to camera. If you have got a network supporting you can also hook the DVR to the network and watch your cameras live on any pc
    10- Enjoy!
