Given the popularity of gaming trackers here, I just thought some of you guys might be interested in the benchmarks of ATI's latest card. Should be interesting once Nvidia gets its cards out on shelves.

Tom's benchies have always been a little suspect but nevertheless if the hd 5 series makes as big of a splash at price and value as the 4850/4870 series cards everyone will benefit from that.
its interesting because my 2 gtx 260's hit 45 fps on clearsky in 1920x1200. I havn't overclocked them yet either so it is quite suspicious.
Couple more comparisons.
Of course, it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the gt300's when they come out.

Signature goes here
Clearsky dominated my system at the time: Q6600, 4870, 4gb ddr2, x-fi. Even at only 1600x1200, with the eye-candy turned on things slowed to a crawl.
If I can keep frames above 50, I will be happy.
In all reality, I won't jump on the 5000-series bandwagon until the X2 comes out. I may even wait for Nvidia to get their products out so that prices will drop.
If any of you don't know, the 5870 is debuting at 399 and the 5850 is debuting at 299. Thats about 100 USD more than the 4000-series...
My guess is that when team green gets their cards out, ati will one-two punch them with a $100 price drop.
OT: Tom's benches show the 5870 a little slower than I expected.
lol @ and agree with staff. I always laugh when I see these graphs of next gen fabs vs. current gen. So I'm assuming they are going to compare 4850/4870/4890's when the gt300's launch? Hm.
Wait Nvidia will do something new? Surely it'll be another spin off 8800GT???
This card looks promising but my HD4850 1GB is here to stay. Are there any power consumption figures out? Usually shows how good the die was and wether there is room for clocking...
Looks pretty good - I wonder what they OC like? Could be awesome...
Generally, the problem with ATI cards are that they run pretty hot when you OC them.
Right now I'm running a pair of 4890's in Crossfire on a core i7 system but I'm waiting to get my watercooling set up before I OC them. I run Crysis pretty well @ 2560x1600 but not at max of course. Still don't have the horsepower - maybe when I get around to OCing them - I hope to find out soon.
Picking up a pair of 5870's definately isn't in the budget right now - maybe next year when they drop in price a bit.
Count on Nvidia coming out with somthing comparable or better soon though - I love competition, it's great for the consumer!
