Default ATI Releases Catalyst 9.8 Video Card Drivers for Download

For those ATI users out there, the 9.8 Catalyst Video Card Drivers were released early to selected websites. The official release of CATALYST 9.8 is not until Monday, but the peeps at Quakecon 2009 are being treated to these 'leaked' drivers.

You can go here for more info and a link to the download.

Well, I've installed it and I get a slightly better Lightsmark08 score. My 3DMark scores are up as well so not a bad driver upgrade, imo.

The people I saw at QuakeCon didn't have anything new to report on their partnership with Havok FX. It would seem that the new boards about to be released would have this hardware physics engine on board. They weren't saying anything about that on the record. We'll see when they release their Evergreen line of GFX cards.

Latest 9.8 drivers does make a huge difference on FPS vs previous drivers on crossfire configurations. Too bad, I only use a single one so noticed no change at all in PC gaming. OpenGL 3.0 support is a good, but few applications support and use them.

I hope AMD & Havoc steps up bec. NVDIA is leaving them far behind with Ageia.
