imo, logitech z-4's... got mine today fills up my medium sized room nicely..
even got a complaint from the neighbers... result!!
I've owned Klipsch 5.1 series and logitech z-5500's, sold them both and went headphones only.
For computer audio, you will never get the same quality sound from a "computer speaker" system that you will do from a professional audophile set of cans.
If I had to go back and choose one it would be the z5500's although they weren't as accurate as they were boomy.
In my oipnion, it would be soundstickII, from harmankardon.
Maybe it's not the best, but I like how it looks, and I think it's good enough for gaming.

I currently use a Creative 2.1 speakers for 10 years now with a single RMA. I'm wanting to have a klipsch GMX 2.1 speakers, although it costs 10,000+ pesos here in the Philippines.
I started with the Klipsh 4.1 then upgraded to the logitech digital z-5500's. I really like the logitech z-5500 set. Very happy with them!
