Firstly, I am not too sure this is the right place to post this, but I felt like it didn' fit anywhere...

I have a question on the batteries that a cameras use. I need to decide for tomorrow which camera I want, and I don't know why all advanced cameras (such as Canon - Powershot 10.0-Megapixel Digital Camera - SX10 IS) mostly come with alkaline batteries and there are so few with re-chargable battery. Are alkaline batteries convenient? Do they last more, less?
My first (and only) digital camera is one of the first ones, so it uses two alkaline batteries, and their efficiency is really poor. But of course, it's an old camera, so I can't take that into account. I need to know how the performance of new cameras that work with alkaline batteries is, and how they're worse/better than re-chargable ones.
