Most likely if you work hard at it, it really depends on your sources and the time you have to invest in learning it. My brother learned PHP from a "... for dummies" book, it took him about 6 months but he wasn't really that into it and it took him a really long time to read the book. I think you defiantly COULD learn it in 3 months but the question is WILL you?

PHP is honestly not that difficult to learn at all. Just get yourself a good book on it and you would have absolutely no problem with it. After you get over the basics, which can be learned with the help of internet tutorials, books like Advanced PHP Programming and PHP Cookbook should get you even further.
Three months should be enough time to get started on creating functioning applications. It only took me a couple months to learn how to create a custom forum and weblog in PHP, and I'm terrible at any sort of programming.

If you have a background in programming alreayd, 3 months is more then enough.

Maybe not to master the program but you willb e able to do a lot of decent things already at the end of thsi period

If you can do C, PHP shouldn't be much of a problem. I went from Perl to PHP in about a month just looking up code samples for whatever task I was trying to do.

I tried to learn ASP and failed then i tried to learn PHP and failed because i didn't have enough time available. It just depends how much you want to learn it. I know i'm capable of it and i'm sure you are too but you need to put the time in to learn!

PHP most certainly isn't one of the hardest languages. Don't know where you heard that.

It's useful for server side web apps, handling SQL and all that sort of stuff. For client side stuff though, I prefer JavaScript.
