I am facing one of the biggest problem I ever had in my life ,,, I need a decent and untouched version of windows xp

the problem with the proformance edition windows xp and any other special edition that I can't install a language for non-unicode programm ,,, which mean I can't read my own language on my PC !!!!

Anyway, this is my laptop spec :

I know it's the worst spec but hey I only use it for seeding


Can you recommend me the best version of windows XP ??
I think it would be a SP1 right ??
But where the hell can I find a win xp sp1 untouched on the internet ???!!!


And before I go , I tried the following OS :

Win 98 : I COULDN'T FIND ANY NEW & WORKING APP, wireless is not configured and I really search how to config it but it's tooo long article

Win 2000 : The non-unicode lang can't be read although I set it up and the rest reason are same as the preview OS

Ubuntu 8.1 : I tried it for a little but and it was my first lunix OS I ever used ,,, fast and alot of app can be found ,,, but the only problem that I can't install the windows games on it ,,, it's just a poker game for having fun when iam bored .

The untouches version of xp would be like more than 500mb ...ie not trimed versions....and by the way get vista if you system supports coz its desined better for multilangual features.

Actually, with Ubuntu you can install many windows games with a little extra work.

Google WINE for more info (stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator, it lets you run windows programs on linux).

Not all games work, but a good portion of them do.

vista : NOWAY I HAVE A TOOO OLD LAPTOP
ubuntu : I really may thing about it ,,, because it's by far the best OS I tried till now



but what you all think about windows 7 ,,, can my system run it ???

if you disable the aero theme and go through all the running processes and cull the ones you dont need, vista should be fine

i am not sure what version of xp to get, cause i know that student key got blacklisted

At the same time your saying ur laptop too old to hold vista and asking that would it run 7. The win 7 would ofcourse be successor to vista and desinged for modren laptops with multiple core processors. Anyhow the problem with your languge thing is that you might not have enabled multilanguage support which you can find in control panel and regional settings. Check install advance text support and check the both Arabic and chinese scripts.

errr dude.. windows xp sp1-sp3 theres no real difference apart from security fixes etc.

icewizard & eric143 : I am running win xp sp3 now ,,, and it's by far the badest ver to run it on my laptop ,,, it's the slowest one till now

Waqass : I heard that win 7 is faster than win xp ,,, that's my I am asking ,,, didn't try vista on my laptop and won't ( I HAVE 512 RAM !!!!! )
and about multilanguage support ,, I enabled it but still there's some error which asking me to log in as admin ,, and I am already the admin user ,,, tried to install the multilanguage support from another installing cd with no use
Drubored : I know there's no def ,,, but I searched all the net looking for win xp sp1 ,,, but I couldn't find it
