    Default Are Alienware's overrated?

What is your take on Alienware and their computers? I am probably going to be in the market for a new gaming laptop soon since mine is beginning to really fall behind and these are the first that I really looked at. The pricing seems pretty unrealistic, but is it worth it? I don't wanna end up paying like an extra 500$ just for the little alien symbol on it when I can get the same thing from another company without it. What do you guys think?

Well first off, all alienwares are overpriced shit.

Secondly, don't waste your time on another laptop for gaming, build a desktop either on the cheap and slowly upgrade it or go all out and build a sweet computer.

Even if you have no experience building a computer just watch a couple of tutorials on youtube.

That's what I want to do, but since I am going to have to be moving around a lot for work I can't really lug around a desktop with me everywhere I go, so I pretty much have to settle on a laptop.

Yes, Alienware's are overrated, and I don't own it, but I can say that half of the price is for the logo tag "Alienware". I would say go with an Asus, an Asus G74SX, and if you want the absolute high end gaming lamptop the Battalion 101 X7200 is the one. I wish I was in the US, and I would have bought myself a Battalion 101, but next time when I buy a gaming laptop is gonna be for sure Asus.

I've got an alienware desktop. I'll be honest with you, I got it for the case. I pretty much bought a base model and upgraded everything myself. Dell always asks for an insane extra amount to upgrade peripherals. In case you haven't held an Alienware laptop, they are huge. I have the mindset that laptops are supposed to be small and portable. If you buy the laptop you will probably just keep it at a desk anyways, so get a desktop. I haven't really had any problems with it though, unlike other Dell products.

Stick with custom PC for gaming performance at a good price.

A friend of mine bought himself an alienware laptop for mobile gaming last year. TBH, it looks kinda cool with that glowing blue logo and stuff and the gaming performance is really remarkable for a mobile device.

But still, i wouldnt buy it. Always stick to a desktop rig for real gaming. And as somebodey stated above, i also only use custom built pcs.
I prefer to select every part myself and assemble it myself :)

Speaking as a previous alienware laptop owner, they are overpriced and just not worth it. Its actually cheaper to build your own. Plus, the biggest problem I had was drivers. Alienware sign their own drivers, so you have to get drivers for your laptop/desktop from ther website only. If you try grabbing it straight from the nvidia site for example, you'l only find errors. Sure, there are ways to bypass the restrictions, but its just more effort than its worth.

Yes They're overpriced. You only brought its expensive brand. Better find some other cheap vendor with same spec
