Default Looking for a good SSD

I'm planning on getting an internal SSD about 120GB (max) an external will be fine too.

Is it ok to use extrenal SSD for MBR?

I would love to buy one that is under 150 dollars.

I have a question where do I put my internal SSD on or in the computer case?

I'm using the SSD for MBR (windows 7 x64) and gaming.

What is the differences between internal and external SSD as in performances for an desktop computer.

    I'm currently using this motherboard : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138179

You really need it to be external? if so... you have to look for the motherboard to have e-sata or usb3.0 ports to match the speed, if not it will be a waste of money. Almost all new motherboards have them. If you have any of these ports, you can surely boot from your SSD, but only for that PC or other one with the same motherboard model.
I certainly don't recommend you any sandforce controller based SSD lots of peoples have BSOD problems with them. If you're going to use it as mbr, you should go for internal, a good ssd connected to a sata III port as mbr rocks!
You put the internal SSD in the case with an adapter that usually comes with the drive (It convert the 2.5" form factor to 3.5" -so you put it in a normal HD slot in the case).

    I hope that helps!

I like the new Samsung 830 series: Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC064D/AM 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) Desktop Upgrade Kit (the 128gb is $200)
I don't recommend you to get any sandforced controller based SSD.

Sorry if i miss understood you previously.

anyone else care to help me out.

64 GB seem too little. Windows 7 take up about 20GB i believe.

But what do you really need besides windows 7 on it? Newegg is currently having a New Years Sale focusing on storage. They have a couple of SSD drives in particular. Pretty good deals if you live in the US. Good luck! Also, like SonyRocket mentioned, if it's going to be external, it should be eSATA. Otherwise you're losing out on the speed with the slow transfer speed of USB 2.0.

I would defineatly get at least 120GB. That way you can install windows and programs and games on it and take full advantage of the speed. Keep media on another drive.

I would reccomend the Crucial M4, very good speeds. Had a recent issue with some drives having crashes once it reached 5200 hours, but they are releasing a new firmware to fix it.

I think 120 GB is the ideal size either internal or via esata. I have and love the Intel 320 SSD because I think it may be more reliable in the long run. Software is great and kept updated. There have been some recent Newegg sales with large rebates making these very affordable. Only drawback is they are Sata 3GB/sec drives, however, this is what you need for your MB.

I was checking out overclock.net and a lot of people has or wants a crucial M4. I was thinking about getting one too.

I agree 120GB is the ideal size right now, 320GB seem like a better choice because software and games are going to take even more space as time goes on.
I believe that my motherboard only supports 3GB/sec so it isn't really a drawback.

I have a question. My motherboard is sata 2 (3GB/sec) If I use a SSD sata 3 (6GB/sec) with a sata 3 cable would I be able to get 6GB/sec?

You'll be limited to your motherboard capabilities.

    BUT
I think you would be able to use one of those:
SATA3 HD supported, SATA III 2 Internal 6Gbps Ports PCI-e Card, ASM1061 Chipset | eBay
