Thread: What AV(antivirus) you are using and why?

That's a very eash choice for me. Kaspersky. I've been using it with a license for almost 3 years and it hasn't let me down yet.

Before that time i experimented with all kinds of antiviruses, from nod32 to norton and bitdefender, but i was always unsatisfied with the end results.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials.

It's free. Easy to use. The best all around anti-virus out currently.

I don't use an AV for years and my PC is always clean when I decide to check with an online scan.
Defensive computing is much more effective then some resources hogging program.

Avast, I just have always used it. not for me but to block the viruses that i seem to get when my sister uses my desktop.

voted and using AVG... one of the free ones... one of the good ones... tbh we don't really need one cause it creates more than it solves problems :P

I run MSE on my Windows boxes, and run bareback (hehe) on my Linux box.

I highly suggest using MSE. It is arguably the lightest weight anti-virus and has been reported to have detection rates comparable to those of the top ranked payed antivirus softwares.

AVG took a shit like 3 years ago. In the past I used it and recommended others to it, but after version 8 ( I believe) it became a resource hogging POS.

I've used Kaspersky for years. But now it's just Microsoft Security Essentials. and I love it, computer never had a problem ever since I got it.
