Default Let's talk about the future.

How do the guys see the shape of the world with respect to computers and technology in 10, 20, 30 years?

    - Will the internet be censored and controlled? It's interesting that the internet was originally designed such that it wouldn't/couldn't be.

    - Smartphones. It'll be the norm to have one (just as it's the norm to have a cellphone, and the internet at home now), we'll be using them to pay for things, look up maps, find car parks... what else?

What I like about technology, (and not just computer technology, but any automation type technology, like chainsaws or mechanical diggers), is that it frees our time up to get on with doing that thing we want. Eg with diggers, instead of spending days with hundreds of men to dig a hole, we can use the digger, and get on with having that thing built. I think that's very much the direction computer technology needs to be taking, giving us more freedom to explore and be creative.

I think the internet is not going to be controlled/censored never. There is always a way to avoid it, and there will always be people who resist and in someway fight "La Resistencia". I think the internet is going to be faster, the services are getting better, and better, hitting superb speeds.

The smartphones are going into a really useful direction, I mean, you can do lots of things with it in a real way, and you can hold that power in your pocket. Nowadays they are a lot of people who develop really useful things. Yes we are going to be able to paid, control and organize our life (if we want to) with them. And is worth to mention that we can control our PCs with them too haha

About the last thing you mentioned, is good to have more free time, is good to have machines than can do task in less time and without effort, but, the bad thing would be if we become slaves of that.

We dont have to make our body be just the transport of our head.

On the smartphone front, as technology progresses and gets smaller, we're going to eventually only have one device (our smartphone/computer) rather than a smartphone, and a laptop, and a desktop, etc. We're already seeing this to some extent, I mean look at the smartphones that have quad-core processors in them. If you need a bigger screen you'll either have a projector built in, or you can bring a laptop screen/keyboard combo that your phone plugs into. Eventually we'll be able to pack so much memory, GHz, and storage (with quantum computing) into such a small space that we won't have to replace our devices until they break.
