Thread: Do we need upgrade anymore...!!??

So what u people think that do we need further upgrade to our computers..
If we take a little insight then dont u think dual cores and core2duos are more more than enough for us..??Do we really get full out of them...????
So why a normal user like many of us aspire to have core2duos or even quads when P4 or even Pentium D are all okay for us...???????

man, if we dont upgrade from year to year than we wont develop our technologies, we wil stay always in the same stage as we are today. New upgrades means new inventions. Without inventions, life cant go on.

Have to agree with you there dude. We're in a really good age for technological progress, although it doesn't seem like it because we haven't had landmark standout inventions (e.g. lightbulbs, television) but we're constantly improving our ideas. I know it's annoying to upgrade constantly but if we don't then it'll get to a point where all you be able to play on your computer game wise is abandonware. Now you don't want to do that now do you? It's hard to make brand spanking new games backwards compatable with computers from 1995 for instance

it is also very hard to get older games from 1995 to work on newer windows vista computers so its kind of a trade off. But Yes we will ALWAYS need to upgrade. Computers are just going to get better and faster every year. i LOVE IT!!!!

In the days of yore, hardware progress involved faster chips without regard for power consumption. These days hardware progress involves improving the speed/power ratio and more intelligent utilization (such as fewer CPU cycles per instruction). At the same time, software no longer seems to require faster and faster hardware to keep up. The prime example is Windows 8 which *does not* increase hardware requirements over Windows 7, despite being more advanced! I think for regular desktop applications, any computer made in the last five years will be just fine for the foreseeable future. But if you want lower power draw, keep upgrading.
