    I use bumptop. It gives a 3D image of the desktop, allows you to group icons together in stacks or groups or folders and has lots of very cool features.

    I love it's simplicity and visual appeal, not to mention how easy it is to find whatever I need without the clutter.

    It was a free download but it has now been bought by google and they're holding onto it, but I'm sure with some ingenuity you can find it somewhere :)

    I don't see my desktop that much.. so I really could care less how it's organized. :P

    Nothing on my desktop but a nice background of a Kyoto palace. Windows search inside the start menu is for finding apps or a quick launch bar of a folder with shortcuts to commonly used apps.

    I use awesome windows manager in Linux with my own configuration.

    Features

    * Alt-X switch to a existing window, it will first create a terminal window if there's no exsisting windows. # X is from a to z, 0-9

    My desktop is all of terminals with one firefox.

    Only important things like games, every day software and recilce bin :D

    All the rest go to folder/ partition!
