Default What do you think about the new Mac OS X Lion (10.7)?

The new operating system for Mac just got released a couple of hours ago (a lot of people have probably already tested the master edition) and I would like to hear your opinions about 'the world's most advanced desktop operating sytem'(quote from Apples homepage).

I was looking forward for the final version because I currently don't have a paid developer license and a pirating a pre-version is something I don't feel comfortable with doing. I upgraded from Snow Leopard, had Chess, ichat, Facetime (if it was already installed) uninstalled and I have also moved some pre-installed applications in a specific folder. The installation of Lion destroyed this, but it's nothing surprising.

    Launchpad:
I have my applications grouped in nice folders and have them ready in my dock, the reason why the new launchpad is more a negative than a postive feature for me. It just shows all of your apps in one places, what a mess. (I don't like this because I have a lot of folders in applications, each for another category, with different access levels.)
    Mission control/Dashboard:
is nice, but I don't think it's any better than spaces, but on the other hand I like the new dashboard. It behaves like a new space (preferences).
    Finder:
What I really like is the new finder, because of the way you can view your files. It still doesn't have tabs though, like in Firefox, but I have TotalFinder for that. (amazing application btw)
    ICal:
It got a totally new look, at least for viewing specific days, which I really like. Especially in iCal comes the fullscreen feature handy (even with a 17" display). Ical is probably the only application where I will use the full screen mode, because I have a pretty tight schedule.
    Mail:
They changed the view in Mail a little bit that the message you are currently vewing is right next to your overview and on the left it displays your mailboxes, as usual.
    Overall:
I liked the overall style of Snow Leopard better, because this one looks more outdated(I don't know why, it just does in my opinion.)
What I really hate is that scrolling goes in the opposite direction now and it feels very unnatural. I am a little bit dissappointed because I have expected more new features and it was basically just a design update. I really like the new ical and the finder, though.

I would like to hear your opinions about this topic.

    P.S: I hate spam.

This may sound like spam but I despise everything apple! Steve jobs trys to play it off like there the little guy, where Itunes/Ipods dominate the mp3 industry. Also it seems like the release hardware Ie. the Ipad. They have 3 more 'versions' planed on the initial release. It's hard to even call them an upgrade. Also all of there stuff is terrible over priced. For anyone who says "Oh my mac lasts for ever and my dell died in a month". 1. Your a moron for buying a dell. 2. The main reason why macs last so long is there is virtually no Spyware/Viruses targeting macs. Yes this is a big plus for them but if you know anything about internet security, your proper maintained PC will last just as long as a mac. Not to say windows isn't absolute shit, just it's still junk, but not over priced junk. Sorry for the rant, I just hate Apple!

Going back to the topic: I'm currently running SL 10.6.7 on my hackintosh and I looked into the new Lion. For me the update is not worth it (even for free). Why you ask?
    1) Upgrading a hackintosh is like a brain surgery (but thats mainly my problem here)
    2) I don't like the way that iOS starts to infuence it's own birthmom (launchpad? I could use desktop or a quick folder for that? No?)
    3) Using the cheapest logic mouse and keyboard I would not be using any multitouch gestures (my problem again).
    4) Full screen apps - thats just silly. Wow, it took like ages to figure that one out.

Anyway the list goes on and on. I really can't see the innovation, yet.

I am happy for every contribution and everybody is entitled to his/her opinion. With 'I hate spam' I basically meant comments like 'Apple sucks!/end of post' or 'Windows is total crap/end of post' ...

I also don't see the point in getting an Ipad or also the Iphone (Android is nearly on the same level nowadays - concerning OS).

I do like their laptops and also, in general, the Mac OS X. I mainly use Macs, because the OS is pretty smooth and and it's based on UNIX. I am also a huge fan of Xcode and other programming tools.

    Mac YES!
    Ipod nano YES!
    Iphone NO!
    Ipod Touch NO!
    IPad NO WAY IN HELL!

People don't realize that OS doesn't matter at ALL.
Is there any 3rd party application that is critical to YOU or your work you use that OS.
OS is just fancy GUI and file and app managements.Thats it.
In order to use app you need to install NET framework, for games DirectX, Linux is no different a little bit more simpler in my opinion, for Mac its a nice improvement from previous version.OS become more integrated with other application, meaning they come with apps already preinstaled out of the box. :)

I'm using a 15'' MBP here, and believe me, while the features may be impressive, the implementation is just effin horrible. There are so many bugs ( some small yet some really annoying ), for example fullscreen apps are really not that great yet, here's a bug that appears even in iTunes, which was supposed to work flawless Screen Shot 2011-07-25 at 8.31.47 PM.png , and sometimes the illuminated keyboard just won't go dark, which if you're on the battery is really rubbish, like I said the OS is really really buggy, at least imho, I keep thinking Apple wants us to do their work and test this thing so they can repair it as we go along, it's just non-sense.

L.E: My MBP is a 2011 i7 quad 2.0, so there can't be any hardware issuew regarding performance

After testing it a few days, I totally agree with that.
I have a lot of crashes, even from internal apps. Everything is a lot slower and the CPU usage is through the roof, during write processes.
This should definitely be called Beta, it's a shame that they actually want money for this piece of crap, because they claim to be selling high quality stuff.
With Lion they prove again that their products are totally over priced, I never got an Iphone, because it is just old hardware with a rather good OS (I'm not even mentioning the fat ipod touch aka ipad).

Even though it has a lot of bugs, I don't think that I will downgrade to Snow Leopard again, because it will probably take me hundreds of hours to set it up. Sadly I don't have a back up of 10.6 anymore.

I don't care for the operating system itself that much on a desktop. The whole point behind me having Mac and also why I was seriously thinking about getting an Iphone, are certain 3rd party applications which are only available for MAC OSX.

I have never tried Windows or Mac on a server, but I assume that they are just paid, more complicated versions of one of the Linux versions.

Dude!! It's just a corporation... if you don't like what it produces, don't buy them. Hate is giving it too much importance, just ignore it and let others act on their own beliefs.

    Also.... haters gonna hate
